Memory Box--1st Draft

There are brain waves that correspond with specific states of consciousness. When thinking about what I want to remember… I always wish I could remember my dreams… & ‘good’ + ‘bad’ experiences. Dreams and waking experiences span different brain wavelengths/different states of consciousness. Representations of brain wavelengths serve as visual depictions of ‘wanting to remember dreams/experiences’—more ‘concrete’ versions of dreams + experiences. Sliding doors as ‘hinge’ for ‘box’ model 1… 3d printed case (with sliding door), 3d printed wavelengths suspended in liquid that corresponds with the different waking states model 2… 3d printed wavelengths revolved 360…. either 1 model for each type of wavelength or 1 model incorporating all of the wavelengths (blending). There would be a sliding slot with peephole(s)… inside would be illuminated, and something would be suspended… perhaps again liquid corresponding with the wavelength(s). Model 3…. combination ...

Laminated forms--1st draft models

Hi all, This week, we started on Project 1: Design and build a laminated form that rhymes with a location on campus. Our goal is to build four different small-scale models in at least two different materials. My project partner is Julie Harris, please refer to her blog for more references and ideas. https:// julieludigitaldesign. wordpress.com/ Inspiration: For our first large project, we (Julie Harris and Wendy Wu) designed models for laminated forms that rhyme with places on campus. We decided to focus on four different parts of campus: domes, paths, beehives, and the Crum Creek. The first form, based around the the many domes on campus, mirrors the visual of seeing domes next to each other in the distance. We designed a set of four domes, each decreasing in size. Memory Box--2nd Draft, Rhino model

At week 2's desk crit, we decided to stick to the brain waves display box of consciousness and the rotatable cylindrical box. The wavelengths revolved 360 degree box is almost impossible to be 3D printed and kinetic at the same time, so it was more of an exploration of ideas. The phonograph model idea has rich potential as well, but the kinetics and the engineering involved to make the music-box-like box is really challenging the limits of Rhino. Our goal was to rotate the arm of the phonograph box, and make the wavelength move. Hence, we sticked with and improved on the renctangular wavelength box and the rotation cabinet. Model 1: We decided to simply the idea of suspending glass tubes filled with liquid that corresponds with the different waking states, into tubes that themselves serve as memory containers.
